They can not come to you. It is a pleasure to live on a boat but if you intend to remain in one place and can't find a mooring within commuting distance then I suggest you find a flat instead. If you simply tie up in one or two places you will be constantly hounded by BW with the threat of being refused a licence and therefore unable to stay on the canals anywhere. However you could start with <a href="http://www.cvmarine.co.uk/victoria_quays/victoria_quays.htm" rel="nofollow">Calder Valley</a> for Sheffield Basin, and take a walk through Tinsley and Rotherham - asking locally can open doors. If you cast the net further theres lots to choose from - even Sawley Marina on the Trent would be driveable within the hour.
